a couple days. there is some rain. in fact its 39 in seattle. portland has had rain. the big news will be the cold air. today we will cool off a little bit. it will be tomorrow we drop five to ten degrees. by wednesday into thursday some inland temps the high temps will struggle to get past 49 degrees. just giving you a heads up. fog out there. sun. it will be cooler. the wind picks up. clouds to the north bay but overall highs 50s and 60s. here is sal. steve, good morning. and yes we will be somewhat of the fog brothers this morning. looking at the fog bay bridge toll plaza. a little foggy here. and also been checking out the east shore preits really hard to see the traffic because of the fog. once you get on to the bridge itself, the traffic looks good into san francisco. its moving along pretty well. you can see on the san francisco side of treasure island the traffic is not

effected by that thick fog. for the most part its a nice start. and 280 right through downtown. let's go back to the desk. police in san francisco searching now for the robber who killed a san francisco man over his sony play station. now it happened late sunday afternoon. the victim and his girlfriend drove to the bay view district to sell a newly released game consul to someone who answered an online ad. reportedly ktvu has been told the couple was accosted by a gunman who demanded the video and even when it was given to him the 22-year-old victim was shot several times. >> they obviously drove away from the scene as soon as they could. and they were able to get ahold of a police officer who gave them aid and called for an ambulance. >> they ended up a couple blocks away.

the woman was not hurt. but the man later died at san francisco general hospital. they had advertised a new ps4 on instagram hoping they would make a new profit. meantime police in vallejo were warning people be careful when you use atm machines after a series of robberies over the past week ktvu alex savidge is live in the area to tell us the mistake a lot of people are making these days. what is it? >> reporter: well, good morning, dave. all of these victims failed to close out their atm transactions before walking away. that has allowed thieves to move in afterward and steal cash. yesterday a woman was robbed here at this bank of america on sonoma boulevard after she left her account open. that same scenario is played out three different times at banks here in vallejo. the victim in this case was taking out money around 2:30 in

the afternoon when she noticed a man at the atm right next to her. that woman started to walk away and then she saw the man move over to the atm she had been using. the victim quickly realized she hasn't closed out her transaction and tried to stop the man. police say its an easy mistake to make and it can leave the door open for criminals. >> if you step away before that closes out, that opens an opportunity for someone that would want to prey on your inattention. >> reporter: and these crimes do tend to increase during the holidays as people take out a lot more cash to do their shopping. vallejo police are warning people to make sure they are aware of their surroundings and make sure to end those atm transactions before walking away from the machine. live in vallejo alex savidge ktvu channel 2 news.

we have more details about the atm scam called shoulder surfing. in october ktvu told you about a scam in san francisco that cost some bank of america customers thousands of dollars. police recovered $11,000 from one suspect arrested in that scam. the bank of america says its knows about the scam. they are working with law enforcement on ways to deal with the problem. a new planned parenthood facility set to open in san mateo county and it is not sitting well with some people. ktvu channel 2 reporter janine de la vega is joining us now from redwood city to talk about the controversy. janine. >> reporter: pam, so far the building does not have a planned parenthood sign on it. the building says its been leased but there have been reports out its supposed to open up today an antiabortion activists are trying to fight it. the clinic is located on elle camino royal. which is on the border of

redwood city and atherton. it will be open 20 hours a week and provide health care. there were efforts a couple years ago to open up a planned parenthood but there were protests against it. this location in north fair oaks has set off public outcry again against some residents that have circulated a petition to get the clinic moved. planned parenthood would decrease property values. the bay area news group is reporting that the petition since planned parenthood is leasing it from him. it appears the clinic is here to stay since the parcel of land is zoned for commercial use. reporting live near redwood city janine de la vega ktvu channel 2 news. new this morning a couple of earthquakes shook the southern edge of santa clara county. don't know if you felt it. but it hit about 2:05 this morning. it was downgraded from an initial 3.9. there was also a 2.5 in that

same area a half hour earlier around 1:30. there are no reports of any damage or injuries. oakland police searching for a suspect in a deadly overnight shooting. police say a man was shot to death outside of a home on coolidge avenue last night around 10:00. it was the city of oakland's 84th homicide of the year. police are asking witnesses to come forward. we have new information this morning about a man who was hit and killed by a car friday night near the dumbarton bridge toll plaza. he has been identified as 21- year-old luis of santa clara. police say he was walking on the east bay side of the bridge when he was hit by a westbound car. investigators say alcohol was not a factor for the driver. still is not clear why he was walking along the bridge. the teenager that was set on fire on board an oakland bus may be back in school as early

today. 1-year-old sasha fleischman came home on tuesday after spend -- 18-year-old sasha fleischman came home on tuesday. a 16-year-old boy whom admitted to setting sasha on fire is still in jail waiting on his next court date. meantime this youtube video of a fight at a high school in hercules between three girls and a transgender student led to calls for a public meeting. its tonight. the transgender student reported being bullied before this fight. bullying and violence won't be accepted. the public meeting tonight will be held at lavonia middle school in richmond. that is at 6:30 p.m.. the unions involved with a contract dispute my be -- they are pursuing possible legal action that could file a lawsuit soon or perhaps go on

strike. last month bart's board of directors removed a provision granting six weeks of paid family medical leave. the clause was included by mistake. litter today we may -- later today we may see work under way at terminal three just in time for the busy holiday travel season. the new boarding area at the terminal is scheduled to open in january with ten gates for united airlines, many luxury amenities as well. the boarding area will have high-tech interactive displays along with local dining and shopping and a sustainable design. a luxury lounge in the terminal. we may finally know google's plans for that mysterious barge being built near treasure island. google may open a floating retail store. google plans to build three vessels at treasure island and then dock them in san

furious actor paul walker over the weekend. walker's friend was driving the porshe when it slammed into a light pole and burst into flames. fans have been going to the scene lighting candles and placing flowers on the scene. >> he's family oriented kind of guy. really humble. sweet guy. everyone loves the movies. its just devastating. >> investigators say speed was a factor in the crash. a yellow honda sports car was scene parked near the crash site. there is speculation it may have been racing the porshe but it is not known yet. fans and costars continue to mourn the sudden loss of paul walker. gibson who appeared with walker

in fast and furious movies visited the crash scene. you can see emotionally upset. he was crying. he placed a single rose at the site and took a piece of the wreckage and later posted a picture of it online. time is 6:16. federal investigators will examine a new york commuter train data recorder. they want to find out why a train derailed. yesterday morning a loco motive was pushing seven passengers cars around a curve whenth train jumped the tracks. passengers were sent flying and the bodies of three of the four people that died were found outside of that train. this morning one survivor talked about the experience. >> when it landed, i fell to the side where the windows had been smashed out. all of those windows had broken through gravel and glass was flying into the windows. >> the speed limit on the curve where the train derailed 30 miles an hour. investigators don't know yet

how fast this train was going. we're finding out more about two football teams from california. they suffered the most of a group of young athletes that became violently ill at their championship. a tournament spokesman says 90- 100 players, coaches, and parents developed flu like symptoms. the team from santa monica had 25 of those cases. health officials are investigating whether a contagious stomach virus caused that outbreak. stores may have seen record crowds over the weekend but spending declined. one trade group says 141 million people shopped in the stores and online from thanksgiving day until sunday. last year that number was 137 million. sot number of people up but the national retail federation says shoppers spent less this year than last year. they report spending fell 2.9%.

millions of online shoppers will fill their virtual shopping carts today. online sales are expected to be a huge hit this year. analysts say cyber monday sales could reach $2 billion. last year sales hit $1.5 billion. the national retail federation says 8-10 retailers are offering special cyber monday deals. >> take advantage of deal sites and online data sites. it really takes the hard work out of it for you. >> analysts recommend keep your identity safe though. check for the s padlock icon. always use a credit card not a debt card. today will be the busiest day in the shipping history. fed exis expected to move 22 million shipments. it won't be until the end of the holiday season when fedex employees can slow down.

on december 9th and 16th they are expected to move 20 million shipments on each of those days. >> every day. sal come on back. i know you are watching the bridges and fog is a problem too. >> yeah fog is a problem. right now traffic will be okay for the most part its getting crowded though at the bay bridge toll plaza. i want to show you that in a moment. you see how clear it is. traffic there looks good. all the way out to highway 101. at the bay bridge toll plaza its not quite so clear. you can see a little bit of fog moving through. the metering lights are on. this is about 15 minute delay at the toll plaza. if you are driving on 580, it is a long commute here. you can see how long it is. the traffic continues to move on slowly. and it stays that way into dublin. that whole line did i trace there is going to be slow. now there is a crash here on westbound 580 right near 680

that is added to congestion. 6:19 let's go to steve. sal, thank you. very good morning. we have a mainly clear skies but fog is around. there is clouds move into the north. from sunday's very warm temps today it will be mostly sunny but a little cooler today. it will billion much, much cooler tomorrow. and on wednesday it will be turning colder. mike in san francisco who keeps wonderful weather records sent me a note saying we are soft out here. a little 50s on temps. we are complaining. well, for us, yes. it will be chilly to cold around here. especially wednesday and thursday. our system is move into the north. that is giving some cloud cover. so far can't find any rain in northern california. 30s and 40s for the temps. 32 novato. fairfield is down to 34. 40s for many though. 37 ukiah under mostly cloudy skies. 35 up until redding. some rain snow up toward

seattle 39. portland also a mix of rain and snow. can't find much yet. there is a little off cent city and eureka. wind has picked up off the coast though. some of the offshore booys are 20-30 miles an hour. big cool willing start tomorrow and even more so on wednesday and thursday. the wind that will crank up tonight as the system moves through and watch those temperatures. watch those temperatures go from the 70s to a few upper 40s. today higher clouds in the north bay. this system will wash itself out and fall apart. maybe a little bit of shower activity up in mendocino county or lake county. we will get cloud cover in here tuesday morning and then the cold air will arrive. fog out there. thick, thick, thick. sun. partly cooler. clouds to the north bay. highs take your pick they will be in the 60s here. coast bay inland will not be

much of a difference. mid 60s. a little warmer morgan hill and gilroy. peninsula coast 50s or low 60s for many. tomorrow though colder air will arrive and wide spread freezing possible. it looks like inland especially wind protected areas and even closer to the coast. get ready big changes in the way. its mainly going to be cold air. i doubt there will be much in the way of rain. time is 6:22. next week the national transportation safety board holds a two-day investigative hearing. its about the crash of the jet that was flying too low and slow while trying to land at sfo back in july. three people died as a result of that crash. the hearing will look into automatic computer hearings. pilots depend on them so much that when something goes wrong often they can be unprepared to assume control of a plane. the 25th anniversary of

welcome back to ktvu channel 2 morning news. 6:25 is the time. fremont police will be using bikes to crack down on crime. the department will have teams of two bicycle officers that will be deployed to shopping centers every weekend until december 29th. the bike patrols will enhance mobility and increase foot patrols. especially on crowded sidewalks. the 49ers got one of their big players back and the whole team was pumped up because michael crabtree was back. now in the first quarter the niners leading by three. collin kaepernick hit vernon davis right there. he jumps over one of the defenders and picks up 20 yards. 49ers score. fourth quarter vernon davis again. does it again. 17-yard touchdown. 49ers won 23-13. now the golden state

warriorers they are planning to make wishes come true tonight. the team is hosting 15 kids from make a wish greater bay area for a holiday party at oracle arena. the warriors are transforming the court into a children's theme park. the kids will get to play with tony douglas, green, and some other warriors players. children with cancer now have a way to share their story thanks to the work of a unique nonprofit. the red fred project hopes to publish 50 books from 50 children with critical illnesses. proceeds from the sale of each book will go to help with medical expenses. the family of one child decided to donate their profits. a book from a child in california is coming soon. time is 6:27. a deadly shooting in san francisco it was over the new play station four. more about the man the police say was robbed, shot, and

is a crash an injury crash just off the freeway on san mateo city streets. this would be at eastbound 92 on the connector ramp to southbound elle camino royal. pedestrian and chp is closing that off ramp. let's go back to the desk. killed over a sony play station. san francisco police say a young man was gunned down while trying to sell one of the new gaming systems. tara moriarty is in san francisco this morning with what police are using to drawn track down -- to track down the shooter. >> reporter: they are using surveillance video. i want to mention the play stations go for $600. now one man has lost his life over that. we understand police interviewed the victim's girlfriend for hours l.a. night. trying to get details. they have been also looking for surveillance video. this all happened yesterday afternoon around 3:30. police say the victim and his

redwood city. right now the clinic will be open for 20 hours a week and provide primary health care services as well as abortion services. people living nearby started a petition to get the clinic moved. they say it will decrease property values. also new this morning police say a two-year-old who fell into a vallejo creek is making a strong recovery and now off life support and fully functioning. family members say the two-year- old fell into the water saturday afternoon while fishing with his grandmother. rescue crews rushed the child to the hospital in critical condition but now say he is likely to make a full recovery. they credit the child's age and temperature of the water with saving his life. >> if the water is cold enough, then it also puts them into a state of shock. it actually preserves the cardiac and brain function. >> rescuers also say if the child hadn't been wearing a white shirt, it would have been much more difficult to spot him

in the murky water. new reports as a an off duty firefighter -- that car went up in flames on the 580 fly over near the highway 24 connector. the chp says the fire did block the connector but luckily no one was hurt. the hallways of a belmont apartment building is a mess. caused by a garbage fire. the smoke went up the shoot to the second and third floors. firefighters put out the flames quickly before it could spread. this week sonoma county supervisors will talk about building a park in the memory of a teenage boy that was not and killed by a sheriffs deputy. a memorial with flowers and

pictures was created. lopez was killed when the deputy mistakenly thought the toy gun he was carrying was real. supervisors are considering several ideas including a park in the moreland avenue neighborhood. the supervisors are expected to talk about this tomorrow. the man in charge of fixing the healthcare.gov website says its team did its job and met its goal. it can handle 50,000 users at the same time. that was the goal the obamaed a -- >> the bottom line healthcare.gov on december 1st is night and day from where it was on october 1st. >> the next major test of healthcare.gov is likely to come during the next few weeks. a surge in enrollment is

legally authorized to grow the medical marijuana. some good news this morning if you drive on highway 4. the first stage of work to widen the highway in east contra costa county is almost done. the times has two parts of the project to add more lanes from love ridge road in pittsburgh to the -- >> yeah will that will be to highway 160. they are scheduled to be finished by the middle of this month. the entire project will be finished by fall of 2015. steve says it will get cold and the cold weather shelters are opening tonight before the temperatures dip into the 30s. three shelters in santa clara county are set to open at 6:00. ehc life builders says it will provide 275 beds in sunnyvale and san jose. more than 7500 homeless people live in santa clara county.

welcome back. time is 6:44. three atm robberies in a week. ktvu alex savidge is live until vallejo now with the warning from police and what those victims had in common. >> reporter: well, good morning. all of those victims made the mistake of not closing out their transactions before walking away from the atm. that left an opening for thieves. they moved in right afterward and they were able to steal money from these people's accounts. this scenario was played out three different times just in the past week at different banks. the latest crime was yesterday

here at this bank of america where we are this morning on sonoma boulevard. and this is where a woman was robbed after she left her account open. and police say the victim was taking out money around 2:30 in the afternoon when she noticed a man at the atm next to her. the woman started to walk away and then saw that man move over to the same atm that she had been using. the victim realized she hadn't closed out her tank action. she went back and tried to stop the man. but the man at that point grabbed her by the neck. pinned her against the wall and took cash from her account and ran off. atm users say this morning its a good reminder you need to stay alert. >> you always have to be aware of your surroundings. make sure you cancel out your transactions. people are in a rush and here he is taking all the money. >> reporter: and police say this type of crime tends to increase during the holidays

statewide. former walnut creek police officer has won an eight year battle to expand the use of amber alerts. the san jose mercury news reports a new law championed by christina will allow the chp to offer an amber alert to any endangered child. no matter who the child is with here's a look at what is coming up on mornings on 2. early morning earthquakes shook the south bay. we will tell you where they were and how far away they were felt. controversy billboards popping up in a northern california community today. their message come out of the closet but it doesn't refer to what you might think it does. and its a video that has become a viral sensation.

>> because it is sign ever monday. people might be sneaking on that their computer to get those deals and free shipping. new informs from scotland. now a ninth body has been found on the wreckage of that helicopter that crashed into a pub. rescue crews are getting ready to lift the remains of the helicopter from off this building. they are taking their time because this building may collapse. 12 of the injured victims are still in the hospital. a san carlos gas pipeline under scrutiny about its safety is going back into service today. the line will run well below the normal pressure for a gas pipeline. the line was taken out of service in early october when questions about its safety were raised by an engineer that worried old welding could cause another blast. san carlos few stills say the pipeline still needs further testing and upgrades. a meeting is scheduled tomorrow for treasure island residents to hear details of a

major cleanup there. people there in two dozen homes are being removed temporarily. those residents will likely be moved to other housing on the island. the navy says despite a chemical cleanup treasure island is a safe place to live. and game wardens now have a nonlethal option for relocating mountain lions that have wondered into residential areas. senator jerry hill introduced a bill allowing game wardens to partner with nonprofits to safety capture and relocate mountain lions. >> they always have top look at public safety first but this gives them the opportunity. >> the law goes into effect january 1st but the department of fish and wildlife has already changed its operating procedures. so far at least seven mountain lions statewide have been
